Community building, security upgrades, product guides and more
Monthly release for May: v0.2
Plio is an open-source tool that empowers creators to make their videos interactive and gather rich analytics on user engagement. We are in private beta - join the waitlist now.
If you have already received access and want to talk to us, give your feedback, are facing any issues, or want to make feature requests, come talk to us on our discord server.
This past week, our focus has been less on building new features and more on community building, setting up support channels, talking to initial users and taking a step back and formulating a roadmap for the next 3 months.
Read on to learn more about what we’ve been up to!
Our landing page now works on feature phones 🤳
This is the first step into making our platform usable on feature phones like the JioPhone which has a massive reach in India.
Feature request tracker is live 🗂
To be able to listen to our users better, and prioritize what to build next, we have set up a feature request tracker here. Anyone can add a feature request or vote for an existing one. This means that you’ll be directly helping us decide what to build next!
Bugs & Improvements tracker is live 🐞
Users can file bug reports and suggest improvements to the platform using this tracker.
Support channels on discord #️⃣
Support channels for the community have been set up on our Discord server here:
Feature requests - To make feature requests
Doubts - To ask doubts and get them resolved by the team or other creators
Bugs - To file bug reports
Examples - To find example plios made by other fellow creators
Product Guides 📒
We have created a bunch of videos that will serve as a guide while using Plio. These videos are available on our YouTube channel.
Love from ProductHunt! 🚀
We launched Plio on ProductHunt about 2 weeks ago and have received a lot of love from the community!
We’re now supporting Firefox! 🦊
Improved security for Plio’s REST API 🔐
We tightened the security of Plio by restricting a lot of APIs that were earlier open for anyone who had their access token. This is a major security update.
The Dashboard loads 3 times faster now ⚡️
Bunching of API calls to our Analytics service reduced the load time for the Dashboard from ~ 11 seconds to ~ 3 seconds
Bug fixes & Enhancements (highlights)
Previously, sorting by the column names on the Home page only sorted amongst the rows on the current page and not all the rows in the table. Fixed here.
Users were being continuously logged out after one day of logging in. This was due to a bug in the refreshing of the access token of the Analytics service. Now, no one will be automatically logged out. Fixed here.
The placeholder for the video player on the Player page has now been improved - earlier the placeholder itself took some time to load. Fixed here.
The call to plio-analytics was breaking when the user had no plios which froze the home page. Fixed here.
